Hi Storey,
This is such an outrageous attempt to assassinate your professional abilities, your integrity and your multitudinous abilities as a highly skilled teacher; it is so illegal as well.  This is obviously an example of "educational" administration at Vilseck, and I am so very concerned about the impact they may be exhibiting for the students at school there.  What a tragedy for all of you.  I do hope this example of "justice" will be brought to Congressional attention with an official inquiry on your behalf.

As a journlist, we always strive for perfection, but even the New York Times has typos that somehow get past the best proofreaders. And no, the writers and editors are not fired, they run a correction the next day. As a former college yearbook editor and a high school staffer, I can attest that mistakes do happen in print. No one was ever fired. We ran a correction the next year or printed a sheet to accompany the book. As a parent of two high school graduates, I know that their school yearbooks had mistakes, and no, the sponsor was not terminated. It seems the administration has an agenda separate from fair play and freedom of expression and speech. There are lots of press groups that will certainly publicize the actions of the administration, with much wider distribution including the National Federation of Press Women and Sigma Delta Chi/Society for Professional Journalist. Hell hath no fury like an organization that buys ink by the barrel.

well, now that i've had a few days of relatively little homework i have been thinking about all that has happened. My last frined in Germany is now leaving and i will truly be alone. I am without an english teacher and i must say, she has been one of the best. my class (2007) has a habit of being ht elast year to have an english teacher. wonder if the replacement will be back next year? I could go on about how i feel, but that would seem a tad bit self-centerted now wouldn't it? All i really ahve to say is i'm sorry to see you go and am going to miss robin something fierce. hope you keep this site up and going so we can communicate, or i was hoping i could recieve ur email address. i hope that things go better for u whereever u go, and hope to see u again. PS. dude, what's with the hate people? make love, not war. its Christmans Time!

Hi Ms Smith, I just want to let you know my son thinks very highly of you. I just forward a letter to Mr Thompson inquiring about your termination (Read Below): I hope this helps Good Morning Mr Thompson, I am writing you this email inquiring about the termination of Ms Storey Smith as the AP English teacher at Vilseck High School. I have read Ms Smith bio as well as seen her performance appraisal for 2005 and 2006 on her homepage. I have read all the accusations made against her and being a 20 years retirees do not understand the reason for her termination. I have a son who is a senior at the high school that speaks very highly of her and enjoy her teaching style and he does not understand why she was terminated. How do you explain this to a senior going out into the world wondering where justice is? To be terminated in the middle of the school year (which I am to understand is the end of her trial period) is ridiculous. Yes, she can do an appeal when most of the legal office opens back up after the New Year and by this time she will be gone to the states. Ms Smith mentions that some of the parents that call you are told to take their concerns directly to Mr Sennett and Mr Werner. Why is that? We as parents should be able to talk with you about any concerns. If the problem is the leadership in the school why should we address them? Looking at Ms Smith evaluation June 2005 and 8 and 13 June 2006 she received all her performance appraisal goals were met. I am very confused and I think that as the district superintendent you should have a meeting with all the parents who are concerned to explain to us why Ms Smith was termination. All the reasons for termination were addressed on her homepage but to me the reasons for her termination are not adding up. I really hope that you will shine some light on this situation for the parents in the community. This way we can explain to our children why this happen. I am emailing you in hopes that someone will let us know why an excellent teacher is being terminated. Your assistance would surely be appreciated.

Mark your other union friend Monday, 12/18/06, 11:28 AM

Storey, I am certain you have an excellent federal law suit that will change what is pattently an unfair union contract. The whole idea of being on probabtion is to have standards and benchmarks of performance that are reasonable and appropriate. Also, many previous law suits have proven that summarily firing someone right before a probation period ends violates federal statutes. You have been shown no protection against gender discrimination or other any "subjective" opinion. Unfortunately, federal law suits take time and when you get the big pay off, it won't be from the administrators at Vilseck High School, but from taxpayers ... so in essence, all your taxes will go to pay your wrongful termination award. I am surprised that no one in your union has shown a willingness to challenge what is so clearly an unconstitutional 'law.' As for the lily-livered, chicken hearted A__HOLE that has the audacity to leave unsigned hate mail that cannot be personally responded to, I want you to know that anyone who has an opinion worth noting would certainly be happy to leave his or her name. I feel sorry for all the other teachers and for the students of your school system--what a blow to morale and community building. Just remember, being an administrator doesn't make one a leader... Mark J. Unions Rule!

hey Ms. Smith i am so sorry about this crap, i want to show you the letter i sent to the guy from stars and strpies its below.. I will pray for you and Robbie and Gwen.. I am here to support you!!! Dear Mr. Robson, I am contacting you from the University of South Carolina Upstate. I was a student in Ms. Storey Smith¿s AP English and Yearbook Classes last year at Vilseck High School. I was shocked, and to be honest appalled to hear to Ms. Smith had been fired. Storey was the best teacher that I have ever had the pleasure to be taught by. Ms. Smith¿s teaching and sports direction in cheerleading were nothing less than perfect. Now how fair is it for both the Principal and Vice Principal to send out emails to the teachers directing them to tell any reporter they see to report directly to them. Now what are the odds that they will tell you things that would be anything less than negative about Ms. Storey Smith? The facts are that Ms. Smith has done nothing to deserve termination and in all do respects the people responsible for her termination did so because they were tired of hearing the mouths of a few disappointed parents. What teacher doesn¿t have students who don¿t like them, and what coach doesn¿t have athletes that don¿t agree with their way of approaching a situation. If every Coach or Teacher was fired because athletes, students, and parents did not have the guts to sit down to see what or where the problem is the world would be Teacher and coach free. I would like to also draw you attention to the Termination letter, there are many points that are made about the conduct regarding the Yearbook class of 2005/2006 school year. I was apart of that class and the effort that went into was much more than the clarity of the Student hand book of the 2006/2007 school year. My sister was approached by Mr. Werner about the jersey she was wearing and told her that it needs to be taken off, because according to the handbook it states that jerseys are not to be worn. She went to his office and asked him to show her where in the handbook it stated what he had told her. Mr .Werner could not find such a thing and as such made of a false story so that he looked liked an enforcer and yet nothing was done to his job. Also after the yearbook was published their were many students who partook in the editing and publishing the yearbook, who were ridiculed in some way or another for their lack of care. How is it fair to let those students who harassed the yearbook students to not be punished but take out the anger on one teacher. Terminating a teacher in a trail run without going to the class room, or to even taking the time to see first hand the way they coach is not even close to fair in the least bit. Admitting sleep in the car only shows responsibility to the athletes, in that she wanted to insure the safety of her and other drivers on the road. We are always told on the AFN commercials that driving when your tired is just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. In Short there are many more students and parents who have been positively affected by the teaching and coaching of Ms. Storey Smith and as such should be reinstated in to DODDS. There is no justification for this sudden act.

Mrs smith it is with a heavy heart that i sit here to type these words, but i feel that what i say must be heard.I have read the information on your site and i have personally come to the conclusion thatyour termanation was unwarrented.I do not know if this will make a diffrence but i can only hope that Mr.Wernner and Mr.Senet will read this and understand that what they did was wrong and that their decison must be reversed, however i feel that they will not reverse their decision, even when they realize that what they did was wrong. This is due to the fact that they fear the system that has so obviously done you an injustice. I would like to take a momment to agree with Terrikka Foust when she says that you are a little unorthadox in your methods because you are but I would also like to add to her letter when she says that the faults in the year book of 05-06 are not entirely your fault. Why are they bringing this up now if they wanted to fire you for this shouldn't they have done this last year? You will be missed but you will never be forgotten. There are many students at vilsek who will do all that is in within their power to bring you back.I hope that i have done your cause no harm in this letter....and in what i am about to ask I would like to ask all students who have the abilitie to do so to print out the evaluation reports on this site and to DISCRETELY distribute them through out the school.I do this to insure that as many people as possible can make their own decision about this matter. Storey.. contact me personally.. I have a few ideas... I have a congressional contact in New Mexico... :D This will shake a tree or tow.. that contact is in the military affairs committee. What I read is above and beyond unfair as I read your evaluations and memos. This could alone require a congressional hearing in DC to straighten out. You don't deserve this - you are as harmless as a fly. hugs and I wish you well Brian S.

Ms. Smith, I am deeply sorry for what this system has pulled on you and I believe that they don't deserve you. This school, it's students and it's administration are all corrupt and they think of nothing but themselves and how they can make everyone hear what they have to say. I beg of you to keep your head up and tread forward...this maybe the beginning of something so much better for you. God sometimes tries to tear us away from the very things we hold dear to lead us into a better and brighter future. I don't know what is wrong with this place...but I tell you something...you were the one thing that was right with it. They just couldn't handle how great you were and still are. You will make it...you have to believe that. Shay

Terrikka Foust Monday, 12/11/06, 9:25 PM

Being a former student of Ms. Smith myself, I can honestly say that we need more teachers like her. She may have been a "little" unorthodox, and I am sure she would agree, but she connects with the students on a whole other level. I was a senior when she transferred in for Mr. Bassett, while we did love him, we couldn¿t have asked for a better replacement. Furthermore, for all the parents out there who listen only to what their children tell them, let me explain this to you. Vilseck High School, as proud as I am to have graduated from there, is very unorganized and the administration department is, for a lack of better words, a joke. If Ms. Smith wasn¿t just thrown into classes, she didn¿t really have a full understanding of, maybe we wouldn¿t have had this problem. You can¿t pick someone up out of the states where you teach one subject and expect them to come here and teach a whole slew of classes. Parents out there know how hard it can be to just use a computer, let alone come into a class and have to use a program to throw together a whole yearbook, and know she is solely blamed for errors and such, how about the students. If you as a parent have such a problem with the way the yearbook is turning out, next year make your child sign up for yearbook, and make sure they do all they are supposed too. Yearbook is a privilege, many people forget that, it is not required that a school provides a yearbook. So once again if you are so worried about the outcome of the yearbook, do something about it yourself. As for the grammatical errors in the newspaper, shouldn¿t we look to other teachers for the blame? I mean these kids are in the 9-12 grades, everyone has to take an English class, yet the teachers aren¿t efficiently teaching students where to place a period or comma. Well for now I am finished, I just think you as parents have no idea what is going on inside of that school, except for what your child tells you of course. So in closing I will say, Ms. Smith I feel truly blessed that you came into my life as a positive role model, as all teachers should be but sadly in most cases are not, and I think Vilseck is making a big mistake by letting one of the best teachers they have had in a long time go. I love you Ms. Smith¿¿ Terrikka Foust Class of 2005
