Missing Work
Forgot to do your homework?  Started it but couldn't finish it? I do not accept late work. So if you forgot it -- you are finished with that assignment.  It is a zero and there is no way to "make it up."

Students who miss class material will not be able to grasp the depth of the topics’ application through the review process alone. In addition, some of the written assignments may need in-process direction.

Instructor generated notes serving as an overview of classroom lectures are generally written on flip chart pages which are kept in the classroom. Students who are missing any lecture material may come to the classroom during lunch (with prior notice) to retrieve the information.

Videos previously shown in class may also be reviewed at lunch.

I occasionally apply a grade of R (redo) to incomplete assignments or work
that is far from meeting my expectations for content and quality. The R
represents a chance to "get it right" and get a real grade -- not an F.  So, operating under the motto of "Give me something, rather than nothing" students are encouraged to make some effort at turning something in, despite the effort being minimal to the point of ridiculous.

Students who received an R grade on an assignment must redo the assignment under my direct supervision during a lunch period prior to the 4th week in a quarter or the week before the grade period ends -- depending on when the work was initially assigned. Otherwise the R will revert to an F.  Some point penalty, generally a ten percent deduction, may also apply. This "make-up" opportunity does not include assignments that were not turned in or for which a zero was marked.

Students may find at some point during the school year that, due to course work loads, more deadlines coincide than can be managed at once.

I am not opposed to extending deadlines if approached in advance of the due date.  BUT! Do not come to me on the Wednesday an assignment is due and ask for more time!  My presumption will be that you knew on Tuesday morning you would be unable to complete the assignment that night, but couldn't be bothered to make other arrangements with me. Nor would I likely welcome your hasty last-minute work. So, when Wednesday arrives and you ask for more time -- the answer will be No. You should have asked me on Monday. A note from your parent will not change this policy.  The responsibility is yours.

Missing work is defined as assignments you were unaware of because you had an excused absence from class. The time limit for making up missing work is very small -- equal only to the amount of time you were out of school. Refer to the student handbook for further information.
